Lord Of My Life

I've been working on a new post that is still very much the "rough" of rough draft. I might just chunk it. So, as a lark, while Melody was at her Beth Moore study tonight - I put a video in and, with my digital camera, filmed a song from long, long ago off of the TV. I then uploaded it to YouTube. I believe this is from 1994 - that's 13 years ago or so! Wow...
The song is "Lord Of My Life". It was written by David Browne and sung by my dear wife and I. This was at a New Life gathering in Boone at ASU. I hit a couple of really rotten notes as this song followed one of those screaming, dancing, oom-pah praise jams.
Most special to me here is seeing our brother Rick on the guitar. I bet he's happy tonight in heaven with the Lord and other precious friends who've gone on before us.

(Sigh...)

The video quality is horrible. The original was bad and I just made it worse. You may get seasick watching it. But the audio is acceptable.
Enjoy, friends.

Oh my gosh! I remember that song! Wasn't that on a tape or something?! Thanks so much for putting that on today. Do you have more?

I didn't know that Rick had graduated to be with the Lord. I miss Hunter, though. It had been years since I had seen her, but I still miss her presence and talent here on this earth. Do you remember her song "I Worship you in Reverence and Awe"?

*sigh* is right. I came to ASU in 1994 so I remember those days well.

Thanks so much for sharing!

OMGoodness. I started coming to New Life in 94, and I'm trying to remember if I was there. David did a great job on that song! It really makes me miss singing with you and Melody.

LOL at Buck's glasses!

This makes me want to laugh and cry all at the same time to see/hear it. I loved that song!! I remember you guys did a recording of mostly original stuff at one point. I always wanted to sing just like Melody! Thanks for sharing. What was Rick's last name? I know I know him but couldn't see him past the hat.

Rick Templeton.

Sarah, I'm glad you couldn't see my hair in this video. I seem to remember it looked similar to if I had stuff my finger into an electrical outlet. I vaguely remember playing this particular night - at least I think I played at this concert.

Jan, Hunter ended up singing in our wedding. Melody was supposed to sing, but got sick and so Hunter filled in for her. Hunter was such a wonderful lady. I hate the way she was shunned by some in her last years because of her investigations and use of Eastern medicines for her cancer treatment.

Uhm, that sentence should have read "I seem to remember it looked similar to if I had stuck my finger into an electrical outlet."

Jan, I do have more videos from way back, but I'm afraid the forces of the antichrist may confiscate them if I share more.

I have the words and guitar chords to Reverance And Awe in Hunter's hard to read writing. I'd be glad to mail you a copy if you'll send your address.

Sarah: Yes, you were there and you were wearing your red ballcap, blue choir robe and in-line roller skates.

Rodney, you did play in this concert. In fact, at the very beginning of this clip, right after I intro the title "Lord Of My Life" there you are sitting with the horn section, your legs stretched out before you. At some point in this concert vid, Kim gives her testimony. I know you'd enjoy seeing it.

I loved that song by Hunter too! The other one I love of hers is "Peace Be Still" she sang that one at Chase Bennet's funeral and it was so fitting and beautiful!!

These videos bring back great memories, Chip. Dang, my man is talented, huh? This is the song that won David (and me) our part of the trip to AtlantaFest when we went with you and Melody in Summer 92.
Where was this concert? Was it on campus?

Hi Heather- it's Rick Templeton - Ashley and Mandy's dad

Patty,
The concert was at the ASU student union "pub". I'm thinking I can make a better quality video using some equipment at my work. If I figure it out, I'll post a few more songs from that concert to my YouTube page. I'll let you know.
And yes, your man is talented. When do I get to hear a new CD project from Browne Studios?

Man Chip... You seriously jumped into the WAAAAAAAAAY BACK machine. Great music still. Glad to find you on the web.

you know, Chip, in the last few weeks, David has spent a lot of time in the studio. (I guess a lack of painting jobs is a blessing to his music time) So, as I type this now, I'm accompanied by one of his new songs blaring in the background. The new studio is above a detached garage. He comes back over to the house to play his songs on all the different components we have (including listening in his car) to see if it's mixed just right. That doesn't answer your question except to say his creative juices are flowing...
