Mighty To Save

I was back playing and singing with a praise band today for the first time since 2002. I did play with the orchestra at our church in Winston Salem off and on when we lived there, and some of their stuff was pretty contemporary, but I never played and sang at the same time there.

I record everything, of course - I always have, for playback and self critique - so I propped my little video camera down by my guitar stand and caught this video of me playing and singing. This was also my first time singing with an in-ear monitor system and it was a little awkward. I went flat some as it was hard to hear myself. I do love the way this unusual video catches the stage lights on my guitar. Cool!

The pastor's wife was singing lead and playing keys. Another girl was on vocals. The lead guitar solo is by our pastor! There was another electric guitar, bass, and drums. Melody sings with the band now, too. But to make child care easier for us, we're with the band on different weeks from each other.

It was a blast. I'll be playing once a month, I think.
