June Brain Dump

I always enjoy John's "Brain Dumps", so since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, here goes:


* What's up with the History Channel? Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men, Monsterquest, UFO Hunters... These shows have nothing to do with history!

* Today I heard someone say that in a few years we'll be looking back fondly at a time when gas was only $4.00 a gallon. Later, when I filled up my truck with $3.98 gas, I projected myself into the future and pretended I had found the only pump in America with cheap gas.

*Our washing machine has been making funny noises and filling our house with smoke and the smell of burning motor. Uh ohh....

*I've still not spent my two Christmas gift cards from Best Buy.

*a rubber hose is hanging from under my car, my turn signals only work every third time I try, the check engine light just came on... and I'm due to get my car inspected within the next two weeks. Uh ohh....
(I'm at 187,000 miles. If I don't reach 200,000 I'll be crushed.)

*I've had this Kid Rock song, "All Summer Long", in my head all day. Not too edifying but... I kind of like it.

*If I could be in two places at one time I'd be walking around Price Lake near Blowing Rock and taking a long walk down the beach at Cherry Grove.

*I woke up this morning to gentle rain, distant thunder, and my one-year old's voice through the baby monitor. My first thought was from Psalm 23: "He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul".

*My daughter thinks there will be dinosaurs in heaven.
