A few happy Easter memories:
*Singing "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today" in the Presbyterian Church when I was growing up.
The year the pre-teen me received a Partridge Family album instead of an Easter basket from my parents. (Now that's embarrasing to share).
*Role playing the twelve disciples with my high school buddies and band mates. We'd spend the night at Lewis' house (or Greg's) and walk down back roads late at night role playing as if we were the grieving and confused disciples. If we saw a car's headlights turn down the street we were on, we'd yell, "Romans!" and crash into the woods or dive into a ditch to hide.
*Leading the church in an upbeat, guitar-driven version of the hymn "He Arose" one Easter Sunday morning at Living Water in Boone around 1996.
*Seeing my beautiful wife in a new Spring dress Easter mornings wherever we were going to church through the years.
*My daughter's wide, happy eyes the year she got a Veggietales Pirate Ship with her Easter basket. She was speechless with excitement.
After Thanksgiving, I think Easter is my favorite holiday. It just makes sense to be happy, have fun and celebrate on the day we set aside to honor the fact that Jesus is alive.
Jesus is alive!!
Amen.
