Kicked Out Of The Nursery

This morning I took my son to the nursery at church. As I dropped him off I told them that he had a little bit of a rash on his arms and legs, that we thought it was either a virus reaction or an allergy. Well, nursery policy is not to except children with rashes. So they handed him back to me.

Poor guy. He looked so confused.

But it turned out to be a good thing. Since my wife was teaching Kid's Church and my daughter was in Kid's Church, my boy and I were able to enjoy some sweet Daddy/Little Boy Time. I took him back home and we played in the back yard - on his swing and his slide. Then I put him in the jogging stroller and we went for a 30-minute walk. I was able to enjoy a sweet time of prayer as I pushed my boy in his stroller. And he seemed pretty content with the wind in his face, taking it all in. We played a little bit more when we got back to the house, then it was back to church to pick up my daughter (Melody stayed on to attend the second service).

So I missed church today because my son got kicked out of the nursery. But it was a good trade-off. The prayer time was much needed. I'd rather talk to God than to just hear about Him any day.
