I had a busy weekend with the church band and my voice is so worn and tired I sound like Tennessee Ernie Ford (or Junior Brown for a more contemporary reference). My problem was the monitor mix. I couldn't hear myself well enough so I compensated by singing more loudly.
Thursday night we had a two hour band rehearsal. Sunday morning I sang and played in three services. Then Sunday night I sang and played in an extended praise and worship time. The result is that my vocal chords are swollen, thus vibrating at a slower rate and that means I'm now singing low bass. I sound pretty hoarse today.
Guitar-wise I did fairly well, though my left-hand fingers were really hurting by the last service. My biggest blooper: I was suposed to be one of the primary instruments on a song called "For This Cause". I got my music turned around and started playing page two while the other instrumentalists were on page one with totally different chords. I was humbled... thank You, Lord.
I have a month to recuperate as I'm only on the schedule once a month at present.
In this video of "Wonderful Magnificent God", I'm the tall guitar player by the keyboard and I'm adding a tenor harmony.
