A friend of mine is supposed to be coming by my house sometime to borrow a DVD I made. The DVD was made from some old VHS tapes I was throwing out a couple of years ago. I had boxes full of old VHS video tapes then that I never watched anymore but which contained a few moments I wanted to remember. I boiled down close to 150 VHS videos to seven DVDs.
There was video of my Grandmother bowling, of old family get togethers, and old concerts featuring my friends and myself.
Just in case I lent my friend this one particular DVD and he and the DVD were destroyed in a mob hit (he is a Southern Baptist pastor after all), I put some key moments on that DVD up on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. This is one of them - "Deep Waters".
Now I also told another old friend - Helen - that I had a video her kids might get a kick out of, and that I'd put it up for review when I had time. Here it is, Helen.
Where's Waldo? Check out the crowd shots in this vid. See anyone you know? See someone you used to be? I see lots of familiar faces. It was filmed at a New Life (or Campus Connection) gathering at ASU in around 1994.
So, Greg, feel free to come get that DVD anytime. If the mob gets you and the disc, I've got my memories up on YouTube. Gotta Light?
We are doing a sermon series on parenting right now at the Church. I found

I cringe when I think of me doing the Watauga two-step. Seeing it made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
That is really scary! It's crazy to think I dressed like that and that it was actually cool at one time. Thanks for sharing and keeping me humble Chip.
I think I am going to be sick.... Man you have got to burn these, quick. WOW!
I love the hat, Helen!! :)
Also, Dar and Andrew's commentaries at the end crack me up. (They haven't changed a bit, you know!)
Who was doing the electric slide? Wow.
Thought I'd share some comments from my kids after watching the video.
Courtney - Wow! Kinda creepy and I really don't like the 80's hair for my mom.
Caleb - Is that my mom?
Kennedy - I never the 90's made you look so weird!
Thank goodness I was hidden by the pole! You looked stylish Helen.
What's the problem??! You all look happy! What a wonderful, if quirky, celebration of Jesus! (This coming from the guy who wore plaid, bell bottom pants--with cuffs--in the 70's.) Just goes to prove it's about the heart not the way we look on the outside.
That's it. I'm so bringing the electric slide back into church.
This is awesome.
