I've discovered Windows Movie Maker.
I was going to do a little 3-minute short about our continuing search for a church here in our hometown. Instead, it blew up into a 21-minute project that I burned onto DVD and gave to my Mom for her birthday.
I'm sharing the first half here. O.K. - It's goofy in places as I make like a Dateline NBC reporter walking and talking to the camera. How did I do it? My kids gave me this camera holder thing for Father's Day that extends about yard or so, so you can take pictures of yourself. You'll notice that as I'm walking, one arm swings normally while the other is still. That's the one with which I'm holding the camera. I like all the strange camera angles I can come up with using it. I also like the accidental effects my cheap camera created.
This little project is a review or overview of my life in fellowship - lots of the churches I've attended through the years. Keep your hand on the volume control as I haven't learned to balance loudness from clip to clip - sometimes it gets a little quiet.
I am a little concerned that some of you may be offended by the playful swipe I took at Living Water Christian Fellowship. I hope it is balanced by the preceeding comments about how much the place once meant to me. And feel free to laugh and shake your heads at the goofy representation of the confusion, pain and anger I felt after we left Living Water.
The little boy playing the guitar at the beginning is me. Notice the squirrels on the tree behind me later. The last scene is from our back yard and I was trying to be quiet so the neighbors wouldn't listen in and think I was crazy.

Part 2 will follow in a couple of days for any blog readers I still have after the first part is shared.
We are doing a sermon series on parenting right now at the Church. I found

Wow, Chip! I love your "corny beginning" and how you have pictures of all those churches as well as your honesty. Can't wait for part 2!
Too cool. Thanks for sharing this story.
